When a person dies due to a willful or negligent act, the family may be able to bring a wrongful death lawsuit against the responsible party. They are permitted to seek rightful compensation for their loved one’s death to cover financial losses arising from the death, in addition to other potential damages that depend on the specific facts of the case.

In many instances, when a loved one dies, the family has not only lost love and companionship but also a substantial source of income for the household. The effects of this loss can be financially devastating as bills for the funeral, mortgage, rent, gas, food, insurance, and other expenses pile up.

Though it sounds dreadful, a wrongful death lawsuit can help a family obtain monetary compensation for the economic damages resulting from their loved one’s loss to ease the financial strain. Even when someone with an “average-paying job” wrongfully dies before the age of 50, the amount of lost earnings and benefits can total in the millions of dollars.

At Bishop Legal, we pursue financial compensation for the deceased’s estate to help the family maintain an equivalent standard of living to what they enjoyed before the tragedy. Please feel welcome to contact us for a free consultation if you require more information on the legal implications—including lawful compensation—arising from a wrongful death.
