Fife man dies in B.C. skiing accident
Seattle- A man who died after a skiing accident in Bitish Columbia’s Kootenay region has been identified as a 49 year-old man from Washington State. Paul John Omegna of Fife, a suburb of Seattle, was skiing with companions at the Red Moutain resort in Rossland, B.C., Sunday afternoon.
The B.C. Coroners Service says he became separated from other members of his party and when he did not meet up with them after the ski run, they reported him missing. The Ski Patrol found him unresponsive in the late afternoon and he was rushed to a nearby hospital, but could not be resuscitated. Authorities continue to investigate his death.
In Washington, hundreds of thousands skiers and snowboarders hit the slopes each season sharing the slopes with those of a wide range of skill level from novice to very aggressive skiers and boards.
Unfortunately, the season also brings many ski injuries, with some being serious, life altering accidents. In the most tragic accidents, deaths occur.
