As the founder and principal of Bishop Legal, attorney Raymond Bishop has been dedicated to fighting for the rights of his firm’s clients for nearly three decades. An experienced litigator, Mr. Bishop is responsible for securing hundreds of highly favorable awards for his clients both in and out of court.
In the years since he opened the firm’s doors in 1994, Mr. Bishop has earned his clients tens of millions of dollars in compensation for accident-related damages.
Before founding Bishop Legal in the Seattle-Tacoma area, Mr. Bishop worked at the international law firm of Von Wobeser y Sierra in Mexico City, specializing in the representation of multinational corporate clients from the EU and the United States. Mr. Bishop speaks Spanish fluently. After working for well-heeled corporate clients, Mr. Bishop obtained considerable trial experience by returning to his home state of Washington. There, early in his career, he encountered some of his most dramatic and challenging trials representing the rights of criminally accused individuals.
Having represented both large companies and individuals alike, Mr. Bishop subsequently sharpened his focus to a fine point by building a substantial civil practice that passionately advocates for individuals and families wrongfully harmed by the careless acts of others. In this regard, Mr. Bishop and the associates working at his firm have been responsible for creating substantial law reinforcing safe work practices at construction sites, at the Port of Seattle, and at other multiemployer worksites.
Much of Mr. Bishop’s work is embodied in appellate and Washington state Supreme Court decisions defining the duty of super-authoritative entities to keep workplaces safe for Washington’s working men and women. It is now practically impossible for any workplace injury case to be tried in Washington state without significant citation to Mr. Bishop’s precedent-setting case work.
Mr. Bishop has appeared at every level of the Washington state civil court system from local district courts, ex parte courts, superior courts, appellate courts, federal district courts, all the way to the Supreme Court. In some instances, the complexity of the cases he works on require Mr. Bishop to practice in different courts on the same matter. As a result, Mr. Bishop has become comfortable working in the state’s judicial system.
Mr. Bishop has built ground-up relationships with other attorneys and judges. Mr. Bishop’s experience and knowledge affords him, and by extension his clients, an advantage in difficult legal arenas.
Mr. Bishop is an active member of the Washington State Bar Association. His work has earned him national recognition. He has been a legal guest commentator on radio programs.
